We took a trip to the dump shop today, and documented all the signage that we saw. Above are just some of the photos of the signage. We talked to the site manager Shelali.
"The manager of the stores name is Shelali. She was really wanting to push the idea of educating people about what actually happens out there and not wanting people just giving stuff to them that they can't be bothered putting into the dump."But I'm wondering how we can do both jazz up/ organise the store and educate people on what the store is actually for??
Some of the points that we thought of later on after visiting the site again were:
- A lil physical/ spatial flow chart at the front of the store to streamline the process of donating/ throwing junk away… that fulfils the education part of the brief quite well and ties into the physical signage
- Arrows on the floor like an activity/maze, turns the way-finding into a fun game.
- All the signs on exactly the same level, not higher or lower, so you know where to look for it.
